CARLSBAD, California USA — A LDRS 17, the blacksky Corporation released the first pyrotechnic release device for high power rocketry, the Pyrotechnic Release Mechanism (PRM). Since that time, blacksky has been listening to comments from users about the original design and have made substantial improvements resulting in, the blacksky PRM II.

The PRM II now has a machined acetal plastic cartridge for loading the HiRMI and Pyrodex booster charge, a stronger stainless steel toggle, an easy to mount baseplate and larger (8-32 instead of 6-32) stainless steel screws. The PRM II was tested and demonstrated at LDRS 18 on the ground and in flight with great success.

The new PRM II has a substantially louder report than the original (it now sounds like a .22 pistol) and better reliability.

All PRM II's come with installation instructions for "single tube" dual deployment systems. Other applications for the PRM II include release of parachutes on the ground to prevent parachute drag, release of strap-on boosters and any other application where a solid release device is necessary.

blacksky is also pleased to announce the immediate availability of the SafeEject pyrotechnic charge holder from SpaceTech of Switzerland. The SafeEject is designed to use a HiRMI or other standard electric match and blackpowder. It is machined from aluminum, anodized red and has a positive seal for the leads of the electric match. The PRM II and SafeEject is available now from blacksky.
