GILBERT, Arizona USA — Space Modeling Solutions has released a new altimeter, the Skyward Electronics Flight Control System. This product is made in Phoenix, Arizona and has undergone what SMS termed "a comprehensive developement program to ensure that you get the highest quality product for a competitive price."

The altimeter utilizes a PIC-controlled system using advanced surface mount technology, and is able to withstand harsh flight conditions. The feature list includes:

  • Fits in a 38mm tube
  • 2.7 oz. flight weight with 9 VDC battery
  • Surface mount technology
  • Programable for dual or single recovery
  • User selectable main deployment altitudes
  • User selectable mach lockout feature
  • Stores and reports peak altitude
  • Complete diagnostic check for both main and drogue outputs
  • 5 amps of peak output current
  • Altimeter tested and calibrated to 37,000 feet
  • Altitude accuracy of +/- 25 feet
  • Reports peak altitude after main deployment
  • Altimeter-based launch detect after rocket exceeds 100 feet above ground level
