ImageVAN ORIN, Illinois USA — Wildman Hobbies is pleased to announce they now have the latest creation in from Performance Rocketry, a scale AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, or to hobby rocketry enthusiasts everywhere, the AMRAAM.

The new AMRAAM is a true 1/2 scale model. This kit has everything you could want in a scale AMRAAM, measuring 3.5 inch diameter with through-the-wall fins, including the upper fins that mount through-the-wall to the altimeter bay.

When is the last time you saw a 3.5 inch diameter kit? The 1/2 scale AMRAAM kit comes with all-fiberglass components, a 3:1 scale nose cone and stands just over six feet tall.

Kit contents:

  • 3.5 inches diameter filament-wound fiberglass booster 32.5 inches long
  • 3.5 inches diameter filament-wound fiberglass slotted switch band 7 inch long and 15 inches long coupler
  • 3.5 inches diameter filament-wound fiberglass payload section 24 inches long
  • 54mm altimeter bay 15 inches long
  • 54mm motor mount 15 inches long
  • 4 - 1/8" G10 fiberglass lower fins
  • 4 - 1/8" G10 fiberglass upper fins
  • 2 motor mount centering rings
  • 2 coupler centering rings
  • 2 airframe bulk plates
  • 2 altimeter bay bulk plates
  • 1 nose cone bulk plate
  • 3:1 scale fiberglass nose cone

Assembled weight is only 7.2 pounds!

That is a nice looking kit. I am sure Performance and Wildman will move quite a few of them.

no doubt about that. the only thing I could see turning me off to it would be the 54mm AV bay, but since the fins need to go TTW, you gotta do what you've gotta do. When I built my Darkstar's 54mm AV bay, it caused some serious frustration.

Well you could talk with Tim and i'm sure you could get a 75mm motor mount and a 75mm AV bay for this puppy. A 6000 ns M would be nice in this ride.

You could always use the 38mm av-bay from Featherweight. Here's some pictures that show how I put one in a 54mm tube.
