SANTEE, California USA — Back in 1999, Jim Hart's company 'Hott Rockets' resurfaced under a new name — Maximum Thrust Rocketry. Dave Wentworth and Kevin Harness of San Diego County, CA took over the company to continue to provide high quality rocket kits to the hobby. Both Dave and Kevin are level 3 certified, and continue to be active fliers of high power rockets.
Maximum Thrust decided to retain most of the original 98mm high power kits produced by Hart while expanding the new kit offerings with the advanced rocketeer in mind. The result of that has been the retention of kits such as the 9.25" V-2, Bullpup, the full-scale D-Region Tomahawk, the Phoenix, and the Army Hawk, while currently being designed is an upscale 9.25" AMRAAM and everyone's' favorite - the Honest John.
All of their 9.25" diameter kits feature top quality paper tubing that can be painted or fiberglassed, along with fiberglass nose cones, tail cones, boattails, 3/8" 7-ply Baltic birch fins, bulkheads, and centering rings with your choice of 3.0" or 4.0" motor mounts.
Recently, Dave and Kevin announced the release of a 16" diameter fiberglass nose cone. The nose cone is approximately 4' tall from the shoulder, with the shoulder being 12" long, so the entire nose cone is about 5' tall. The first nose cone produced weighed 27 lbs. The exterior was gel coated heavy enough to sand, and other than sanding the mold seams a bit, was flawless. The price is $395 + shipping.
