"All over the country dads are helping sons build model rockets for the same reason they used to monopolize their youngsters' electric trains. The fact is, for any age, there's a lot of thrill and challend in fashioning a slim, gleaming, needle-nosed projectile and watching it streak skyward in a fiery blast of its engine."

That's the opening paragraph in this July 1967 article from Popular Mechanics magazine, a home mechanical improvement magazine still in production today.

The article features a how-to on "building a battery-operated launcher, a remote control firing station, and a solid-fuel ship" which has been captured and converted to Adobe PDF format to share with the readers.

Five pages in length, the article is 1.4 meg in size. To view the article, click here. You will need Adobe Reader to view the article. If you do not have Adobe Reader, a copy may be downloaded for free from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/.

Part of the challenge we face in the hobby is the archival and preservation of these old sources of information on our hobby.  Adobe PDF format makes a great medium for the collection and storage of these types of documents because of its portability and cross-platform approach.
