WASHINGTON, District of Columbia USA — The Federal Aviation Administration's discussion forum on small scale rocketry began accepting comments on February 28th. The open forum will last for 2 weeks.

You can access the forum at:

http://ast.faa.gov/publicforum/
The forum is for the discussion of the FAA's oversight of small scale rocketry and as a result, the FAA may initiate rulemaking to redefine the scope of launch activities that would require FAA licensing. Also, the FAA is considering a simplified launch license dubbed 'light license' for particaular classes of launches.

The FAA will monitor public comments throughout the two-week forum. The FAA may ask clarifying questions of commenters but will not make any commitments or draw any conclusions during the open docket period.
