WEST JORDAN, Utah USA — Isn't it more fun looking at flying rockets on your screen than flying windows or toasters?

Now available on the Utah Rocket Club's (UROC) website is the first in a series of screen savers capturing some of the action from HellFire launches of years past.

HellFire is a special launch that many people across the country look forward to each year. The event is focused on high power. The location of the launch (the Bonneville Salt Flats) and its close proximity to Wendover, Nevada make HellFire a truly exciting and entertaining spectacle. HellFire 6 will begin on Friday, September 15th and continue through to Sunday, September 17th.

A new addition to HellFire this year is the addition of "The Prefect's Cup" competition. Sponsored by Scott Olsen's Olsen Advanced Electronics, the competition involves flyer's attempting to achieve the highest altitude possible with a 4" diameter rocket powered by a J class motor. All of the contest rules are posted on the UROC website.

Home of five previous HellFire launches and the home of LDRS 17, the Bonneville Salt Flats is one of the most unique natural features in the world. Stretching over 30,000 acres at an altitude of approximately 4320 feet above sea level, the ground is so flat and free of obstruction that it is possible to see the curvature of the Earth. Because of this ideal terrain for flying rockets, the Bonneville Salt Flats has become many people's Level 3 certification and high power site of choice.

We have already received commitments from several motor and hardware dealers that they will be on site for the event. Ken Finwall of California High Power Rocketry, Mike Reiner of Dr. Rocket/Reloadable Systems LLC, and Scott Olsen of Olsen Advanced Electronics are some of the vendors scheduled to be on hand. Make sure to contact these dealers to make motor orders prior to coming out to the launch as many only will accept pre-orders.
