MT. CLEMENS, Michigan USA — Our first releases of the CPR3000 system in our kit line are ready. We now have the long-time CPR favorite Sudden Rush kit converted over for CPR3000. If you’ve just come back from LDRS you may have seen it.
One of our dealers, Robby’s Rockets, had half a dozen or so first-production ones available there for sale (and sold them out almost immediately, from what I’ve been told). It’s available now on the CPR Based Kits page in the webstore.
We also have the new Mini BBX available in a CPR3000 version as well. As you may recall, the Mini BBX is a scaled down version of our Black Brant X that we’ve sold for years. The Mini was one of the four new kits we recently released (the others were the Hydra, Intruder and Matrix). The Mini BBX can be seen either on the Scale Kits page where the "regular" Mini BBX resides, or on the CPR Based Kits page of the webstore. The CPR-based Mini BBX looks identical to the non-CPR kit (but is a tad heavier at 48 oz.), and can also use the optional Terrier booster stage we’ll be releasing in Fall 2000.

Last week we shipped out demo CPR3000 units to some of our dealers. Nine of our dealers have CPR3000 demo units for "show and tell". They are not complete rockets, but look much like the graphics on the CPR3000 page of our website. UPDATED MOTOR RECOMMENDATIONS CHART
We’ve updated our Motor Recommendations Chart once again, this time to show both flights that will require strengthening to use a certain motor (which we’ve had for some time now) but also to show which kits can take a certain motor but need to have strict attention to build quality to survive that motor.
Relatively recently we’ve been getting reports from a small number of customers of failures of their rocket (usually stripping a fin) on some "higher end" flights. A good example would be the AMRAAM-3 on a J350. We’ve personally flown this combo successfully a number of times, as I’m sure many of you have as well. After speaking with some of the people who’ve had trouble, it’s become clear that some customers just aren’t building their kits the way the instructions say. The biggest problem seems to be that they’re not heeding the comment at the beginning of all our instructions that says to be sure to sand all parts to be bonded. I just can’t stress strongly enough how important this is to ensure the epoxy gets an opportunity to "bite" well into the materials.
Well, to help bring this point home, we’ve added a new first page to our Motor Recommendations Chart. This chart explains the new BLUE highlighting on the chart, and how to help ensure success on "blue-motor" flights.
We’ve also added some information there to help in better delay selection as well. As I’m sure those of you familiar with simulation software know, the real world varies from the sim software in a number of areas, so we’ve given you some of our experience in delay selection on the new first page as well.
Check back on the site often, as we frequently update the Motor Recommendations Chart, FAQ, etc., and you’ll want to have the latest version. You can tell if what’s on the site is a newer version that what you have by the filename, which is always displayed on the document itself. Look in the lower RH corner of the Motor Recommendations Chart, and you’ll see it’s PMLalti18.XLS; compare that with yours to make sure you have the latest. Also, you’ll be seeing a new KitSpecs chart in a day or two that lists the size of payload section a kit has, if it has one.
MORE CPR3K KITS TO COME, PLUS CO-PILOT ALTIMETER
Watch for new announcements from us in the coming weeks of more CPR3000 kits, and the new PML Co-Pilot altimeter! The Co-Pilot is manufactured exclusively for PML by Missile Works Corporation, makers of the popular RRC2 altimeter. The Co-Pilot is based on the RRC2 design, but with changes to meet PML’s specifications. The Co-Pilot is designed specifically for CPR3000; here’s some specs:
