LAS VEGAS, Nevada USA — Steve Moore, founder of RocketSilo announced today that 10% of all net sales for the month of October will be donated to the Tripoli/NAR Legal Defense Fund against the ATF. "This is an important issue - as taxpayers and as model rocket enthusiasts. If we allow the government to make eroneous decisions about our hobby, then we run the risk that model rocketry will become overburdened with regulations and too costly for consumers and retailers," said Moore.

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA) on Friday, February 11, 2000, jointly filed a four count civil complaint against the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. This action became necessary only after repeated meetings and exchanges of correspondence with ATF made it clear that ATF intends to proceed with rulemaking on rocket motors that is both eroneous and unnecessary.

TRA and NAR assert that ATF has no legal authority to regulate sport rocket hobby motors, which have been used safely for decades and which are already heavily regulated by other US Government agencies. TRA and NAR are seeking both declaratory judgment preventing ATF regulation of these motors, and full recovery of the costs of the litigation to resolve these issues. A full copy of the complaint may be found at or .

"RocketSilo is overwhelmed by the support that the rocketry community has shown us and now it's time to give something back," Moore concluded.
