WORLD WIDE WEB — Rocky Mountain Rocketry is now the sales outlet for the Olsen Advanced Electronics FCP-M2 altimeter. Olsen Advanced Electronics will continue as the manufacturer of his fine altimeter, but Rocky Mountain Rocketry will now be the sales channel.
This is truly a win-win-win situation. Scott Olsen is freed from many of the retail rigors that had taken him away from what he really loved: designing and building altimeters. Rocky Mountain Rocketry gets a fantastic product to sell to the rocketry community. Rocketeers get a distributor who is readily available, responsive and fast.
The FCP-M2 altimeter is a barometric based altimeter that combines flexibility, power and price to make it the most attractive altimeter on the market. One of its most unique features is the LCD display which allows a great number of user selectable features. Instead of remembering which switch or jumper does what, you select features by scrolling through options as they are displayed on the LCD display.
The FCP-M2 handles two firing events, apogee and main. The apogee charge can fire at apogee, or 1.75 seconds after apogee, which makes it extremely attractive as a back-up altimeter. The main deployment is user selectable from 100' to 20,000' in 50' increments. If your rocket is going to be going through Mach 1, the Mach delay can be set from 0 to 62 seconds.
Lift off is detected by an on-board g-switch (2.1 Gs), or by detecting an altitude change of 300', or both. You can turn your FCP-M2 on or off with the on-board switch, or with an external switch which is wired into an on-board terminal.
When the flight is over, the FCP-M2 displays the altitude on the LCD screen. If you turned recording on, you can scroll through the data points that are stored in the non-volatile memory. You can also download this information into a computer for use with the included FlightGraph program.
The FCP-M2 gives you visual alerts for apogee continuity, main continuity, battery status and ready-status via bright LEDs, displayed on the LCD display and through distinctive audible tones. Combine this with the local/remote switch, launch detection options and the fact that the FCP-M2 saves its settings even when switched off, and you have unprecedented flexibility in mounting and activating the FCP-M2.
Rocky Mountain Rocketry has Olsen Advanced Electronics FCP-M2 altimeters in stock, right now, available for immediate shipping. Dealer pricing is available as well.
