WORLD WIDE WEB — The aRocket 1 launch event to be held from April 2 thru April 8, 2001! Imagine a seven day event devoted to exclusively to rockets! LOX, Hybrids, and Solids are planned! Any and all Commercial, Experimental, and Amateur rocket motors are welcome at this event but projects are subject to prior approval before flight.
Each day will consist of Flight Windows (WSMR owns the airspace) and just about any conceivable altitude applied for at least two weeks prior should be available along with static motor testing on our instrumented 10,000 lb. test stand including data acquisition later in the afternoon. A two-thousand pound thrust LOX Hybrid was just successfully tested on this stand to confirm and final test the site. Time permitting a 16,000 lb. thrust solid is planned for static firing during this event!
Activities on Thursday and Friday of the week will be devoted to those interested in Certifying Level I, II, or III for Tripoli or NAR. This launch event, as all New Mexico and other desert rocket activities, plans to be laid back and very casual with an emphasis on safety first! No lines to launch offer a major plus!
Lowell Randall, Robert Goddard's last surviving team member has graciously offered to speak about his life quest working on rockets, with the possiblity of a couple of local retired NASA astronauts have been asked to attend and speak at this event. Rocketeers from as far away as Australia are planning to attend.
Unique world class shopping is available in Albuquerque and Santa Fe along with many tourist attractions located throughout the state. While here you will certainly want to visit the Rocket Triangle here in our great state. The Atomic Museum, The National Space Museum, and White Sands Missile Range Missile Park each mark the points of a triangle which surround our Experimental/Amateur Launch Area and are within a one and a half hour drive to visit each attraction. In addition the Trinity Nuclear Test Site, which is only open to the public two days a year, will be open on Saturday 7th and is located about twenty minutes from the launch site. In addition, Roswell, New Mexico offers a museum with a full scale exhibit of Robert Goddard's Workshop. New Mexico's unique area and weather offer a fantastic opportunity for rocketeers and those that have attended New Mexico launches always return for future events!
