Jim Amos' Missile Works Corporation, (http://www.missileworks.com), is the latest manufacturer to toss their hat into the ring of hobby rocketry. Missile Works is a brand new manufacturer of high quality rocket kits, electronics, and components. When it comes to kits, they only produce scale and semi-scale models of military missiles and research rockets. They've started off their product line with four 29mm semi-scale kits which include the AGM-12B Bullpup, the MIM-23A HAWK, the ASP, and the VIKING 7. Look for them to soon be offering 38mm kits as well, with four initial designs ready for prototyping.
Here's just a few of the outstanding features these conventional kits have to offer: - Phenolic/Kraft hybrid tubing provides a strong airframe without it's brittle nature
- Precision laser machined fin slots for solid through the wall fin mounting
- Fins, Centering Rings and all other plywood stock is precision laser machined
Along with conventional kits, they also offer an exclusive line of all plastic PVC models. These models are heavier than conventional types of kits, but for the price of that weight you get an extremely strong and durable airframe which is easy to build and even easier to paint and finish. These kits feature custom turned scale nose cones, and will be available in 38mm, 54mm, or for use with the CP Technology's single use AN/Mg motors. These rockets also feature laser machined fin slots, along with all other parts being pre-cut laser machined. The line of electronics starts out initially with two product offerings. This includes the RRC2 (Rocket Recovery Controller), a 2 stage barometric apogee detector and altimeter, and the WRC2 (Wireless Remote Control), a 2 channel unit for redundant recovery system backup or remote aerial staging. The RRC2 can operate up to 25K MSL, and features mach inhibit, peak altitude, programmable main stage deployment altitude (1000' / 500' AGL, or dual apogee mode), audible continuity checking, 1 amp FET solid state outputs, barometric sensor alarm, RF desensitized PC board, on-board 9V battery or external 7-12V battery system. The WRC2 operates using a 900MHz spread spectrum transmitter and receiver, digitally encoded for independent operation with no interference. The system has a minimum 2 mile line of sight range, requires no FCC license, and is FCC part 15 compliant. The receiver uses an external 12V battery system, with each output being capable of sinking up to 12 amps. Missile Works Corporation also has full line of components with the same precision and quality found in their kits. All tubing is an exclusive Phenolic/Kraft hybid, and is available up to industry standard 4" O.D. Also featured is a full line of laser machined centering rings, a unique baffle chamber design, custom turned wooden nose cones and semi-scale blow molded polypropylene nose cones. They can also produce custom turned wooden nose cones made to order.
