LAS VEGAS, Nevada USA -- RCS Rocket Motor Components is pleased to announce the immediate availability of two new products for 2001, a new payment option for its customers and an improved and expanded website.
The first product is a new molded phenolic nozzle (RCS part no. 01850) suitable for 98mm experimental motors. This nozzle is of the multi-throat (so-called "Medusa") variety, meaning the experimenter can use the nozzle for a variety of motor designs by simply drilling out two, three, four or all six of the plugged outer throats to the dimensions necessary for proper operation of their particular configuration. Previously, experimenters had to machine the single throat 98mm nozzle (RCS part no. 01800) on a lathe to the desired throat and exit cone dimensions. The new nozzle sells for $29.95.
The other new product is a "Resource Library" CD-ROM (RCS Part No. RLCD01) which contains hundreds of files in PDF and Microsoft Excel® format that are useful for the experimental rocket enthusiast. Included on the CD are a series of informative NASA rocket motor technical reports, federal screw thread standards, technical information and material safety data sheets (MSDS) for popular propellant chemicals, the Air Force Chemical Equilibrium Specific Impulse (Isp) Code, helpful RCS motor design spreadsheets and federal and state regulatory references. As a bonus RCS has also included numerous videos of various experimental and historic rocketry activities including recent ground and on-board video shot by the Gates brothers. The CD sells for $19.95 and will work on PC and Macintosh* computers. An updated order form which lists the newly released products is now available for download from the RCS website.
An online "Resources" area is being added to the website which includes an abbreviated version of the material found on the Resource Library CD. We will be adding more resources to this page as time and opportunity permits.
RCS customers may now use PayPal for making online order payments. Payments may be made on the PayPal website using the email address

. Previously, only checks and money orders could be accepted for payment of RCS orders.
The RCS website is in the process of being further expanded to include links to other experimental rocketry sites, an EX-launch calendar and a user's page where you will be able to post your own propellant formulations and motor designs for fellow experimenters to try. Jason Blatzheim and Jim Green have agreed be the first "EX-ers" highlighted on the site.
RCS is continuing to work on introducing additional products for late 2001 and early 2002, including the previously-announced "effects" propellant premixes, experimental motor hardware and tested & proven motor designs available for download in PDF format.
Finally, RCS wants to offer a special thank you to all loyal customers worldwide who have made RCS THE source for experimental rocket motor components!
*Note: the Air Force Chemical Equilibrium Specific Impulse (Isp) Code can run in emulation mode on a Macintosh computer using Connectix Virtual PC software.
