ORLAND, Florida USA — Angel Martinez, acting president of Sparrow Tech Rocketry, Inc. attended the recent LDRS 17, participating and taking pictures of LDRS rocketry events. Angel said, "First, I would like to thank all the kind people that helped me with my flights. One person said: 'Remember, there will be another person at a future LDRS that will be in need of advice, or your help getting their rocket ready for their certification flight. All I ask is that you help that other person with the same enthusiasm that I am dedicating to you.'"

"That is the spirit of LDRS. Flying from Florida to Utah took all the courage I could muster. It seemed to be on the other side of the world. I arrived one day early to make sure I would be setup before LDRS started."

His initial flight on a PML 1/4 scale Patriot proved unsuccessful as the ejection charge didn't deploy the parachute. However, after some calculated risk taking, Angel decided to push the limits of Sparrow Tech's Speedster 18 kit. This 29mm kit took the abuse of the single user H motor, even with balsa fins, allowing Angel to complete his mission of certifying Level 1 at this event.
