In the September issue of dealer updates from Great Planes Distributing and Horizon Hobby Distributors, the following was announced:

30th Anniversary Apollo 11 Saturn V

  • Special edition commemorating the 1969 lunar landing
  • Highly detailed Masters Level kit
  • Special packaging and updated instructions
  • Requires D12-3 engine and launch equipment

The kit number is Estes 2157.
The suggested retail price is $69.99

Anticipated release date is early November.

An ultra special high five to Alan S. Estenson ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) for originally breaking this story on the UseNET Newsgroup "rec.models.rockets."

Discussions directly with Estes indicate that this is true. Customer Service reported the kit wasn't available yet but they further indicated that their new product lines due in November would hold a Saturn V. Look for a press release soon as Estes intends to actually break the silence.
