BATON ROUGE, Louisianna USA -- Giant Leap Rocketry has released it's line of MICROSEAM phenolic tubing. MICROSEAM is a new type of phenolic airframe in which the spiral grooves are nearly eliminated
These tubes offer the same advantages of traditional nonbrittle phenolic—high strength, resistance to shattering, and good absorption of adhesives. But MICROSEAM tubes have an entirely new outer layer and new resins inside the walls of the tubing. This eliminates the tedium of filling and sanding grooves. "We developed a nearly grooveless phenolic for the price of standard phenolic" says Ed Shihadeh of Giant Leap Rocketry. MICROSEAM phenolic tubes have the look and feel of standard nonbrittle phenolic, but the grooves are nearly eliminated. Two or three heavy coates of Spot Putty Primer (and extra thick spray primer available at major department stores) are all that is required. Sand inbetween coates and paint at desired. MICROSEAM is available only in 6" and 7.5" airframes.
