WORLD WIDE WEB -- In a letter dated March 1, 2002 from Kenneth Good, the secretary for Tripoli Rocketry Association, indicates the Tripoli Board of Directors has four concerns regarding activities of noted rocket motor manufacturer Dr. Frank Kosdon:

  1. Breaking an agreement, made in the presence of two board members and several prefects at Springfest in March 2001, not to sell motors at TRA launch sites until those motors become legal. This agreement was ratified by the full Board on April 28, 2001, and published in the "Tripoli Report" Volume 12 Number 1, June 2001.
  2. Violating FAA Waiver provisions at Lucerne Dry Lake, California on January 12, 2002.
  3. Publicly provoking and encouraging other Tripoli members to violate regulations.
  4. Violations of California State law at our launch sites, by manufacturing and selling motors contrary to the laws of that state.

The letter further states, "you have violated your agreement with the Board on more than one occasion. Since you have violated this agreement, the Board has concluded that your membership should be suspended, effective as of the date of this correspondence, in accordance with TRA Bylaws (Article 11:3 and Article IV:2), until such time as a hearing is held to determine your ongoing status as a TRA member.”

The Tripoli Board has requested Frank appear before them at the Tripoli Board meeting at LDRS21 on July 10, 2002 where the items will be reviewed in detail. Frank Kosdon was also requested to bring a copy of his waiver in reference to item number two listed above.

It should be noted that Dr. Kosdon announced his decision to run for Tripoli Board of Directors some months ago. Ironically the election will take place prior to the review of his suspension.

When Frank Kosdon was contacted he indicated he was working on a press release which would be forthcoming in the near future regarding the letter he received. The complete letter has been posted courtesy of Dave Triano on the following web page: http://www.shadowaero.com/suspension.htm
