SALT LAKE CITY, Utah USA -- In 2002 UROC's HellFire launch is expanding to better accommodate the interests of its members. HellFire, which is in its ninth year, is the Utah Rocket Club's premier high power event.

The launch is held on the Bonneville Salt Flats each year in late summer. This year, UROC will be adding another day to its existing three-day schedule.

During the past year, interest among UROC members in experimental motors has grown tremendously. The Utah Rocket Club prides itself in supporting all of its member's legitimate rocketry research and activities provided they fall under the aegis of either the National Association of Rocketry, or the Tripoli Rocketry Association, both of which UROC is a section/prefecture for.

The additional day (Monday, August 19, 2002) will be exclusively for the purpose of experimental motors. The experimental or "EX" launch will be held under the Tripoli Research Rules while the normal high power launch on the preceding three days will be held in accordance with NAR's High Power Rocketry rules. If you have further questions about the experimental launch in particular, please contact Steve LaCroix at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

HellFire 8 will be taking place on August 16,17, 18, and 19 on the Bonneville Salt Flats (or alternate location depending on weather conditions). As in years past, we anticipate being granted an open waiver to 10,000ft AGL with windows to 25,000ft AGL available during the four days of the launch. We are anticipating a great turnout again this year for HellFire.

If you would like further information about the launch, or would like to register for the event you can do so online, visit http://www.uroc.org/html/hellfire.html. If you have questions about the launch itself, sponsorship, or anything else, feel free to contact Neal Baker at (801) 750-7703 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .
